This piece is made from a pine plank which I carved into the main body of the sea turtle.  The shell’s rim curves up and the back of the shell is rounded giving it a more realistic feel.  To give it more depth, both front flippers are separate hand-carved pieces attached prior to painting. The end result is a sea turtle that looks like it has come to life on your wall.  

Sea turtles come in many colors depending on which type it is.  This particular turtle is based on the green sea turtle.    The largest populations of green sea turtles within the U.S. are in the Hawaiian Islands and Florida.  These beautiful creatures were listed as Endangered in 1978, however, new studies report that many sea turtles are making a comeback.  

All of my hand-carved pieces are unique; no two are alike.  Finishing the piece after it is sealed, is the attachment of hardware making it ready to be hung.
